Natasha Ackermann was once a genius human chemical researcher and head of the Maria Prophetissima Research Institute. She had been responsible for upwards of a dozen emergent, breakthrough chemical theories in several scientific fields, ranging from pharmaceuticals to nuclear energy. However, she had only ever taken credit for one of these discoveries: minor improvements to penicillin V to decrease a negative reaction in allergic patients. The rest she published under the pseudonym 'Alkahest,' choosing to remain anonymous as to their source.

Following the successful construction of the vessel, Natasha became the de fact commander of the Axiom of Maria. With the battleship, she severed all ties between the Maria Prophetissima organization and Earth governments, primarily due to concerns of financial reliance. The organization became funded by the trade of valuable resources which can only be refined thanks to Ackermann's genius to buyers throughout the Multiverse.

Shortly thereafter, Ackermann was taken hostage by a powerful AI entity. The being commissioned her to create powerful tools for him in exchange for her life. The first thing the doctor did was to upgrade her own body. Utilizing a sample of extraordinary DNA she obtained from a creature called Doomsday in conjunction with new material she was able to forge thanks to the AI's assistance, she became cyborg of singular capacity.

Natasha used a rare sample of alien DNA to reshape her brain and expand her cognitive functions. She possesses dozens of 'cortical cords' which can more efficiently and quickly process information than her original brain. They also serve as protection of her newly altered mind.

Concerning Daedalium Plating:
Daedalium is a material formed from is a synthesis of unqiue alien DNA and reactive metal designed by Natasha.

*Following the events of a particularly vicious skirmish within the city of Gotham, Maria Prophetissima agents were able to obtain a sample of DNA from fragments of chitin left behind by the creature known as Doomsday. Although the DNA was not replicable because it could not be sequenced, Natasha herself studied it — internally. Using her abilities of biochemical manipulation she was able to replicate it within herself, though the process was arduous, time-consuming, and hazardous. However, as it is a reactive biological substance it is far and away an improvement on any typical materials she would have otherwise employed for her purposes, even lenmat plating, the substance which is the primary material of the Axiom of Maria. When the DNA is synthesized with a reactive variation of lenmat, however, daedalium is created. Her body is neither flesh nor metal, but a blend of both.

Axiom of Maria

The Axiom of Maria is a battleship which currently serves as the Headquarters of Maria Prophetissima.

OVERVIEW

The Axiom is an impressive vessel. Though large sections of the ship are dedicated to housing highly advanced research facilities it is also capable of directly engaging in combat. This is due in no small part to the staggering volume of completely unique synthesized elements which were created specifically with its construction in mind.

Though the vessel was built entirely by the agents of Maria Prophetissima, the cost of constructing the Axiom conventionally would likely land somewhere between 320 and 340 trillion USD. Its successful completion was chiefly due to the involvement of Dr. Ackermann herself, whose knowledge of transmutation and cutting edge chemical refinement saw to it that the Axiom of Maria would see the stars.

NOTEWORTHY COMPONENTS

Kinetic Engine

Appropriated from the now defunct Worldforge galactic FOB, the Kinetic Engine was originally designed as a weapon for one of Worldforge's black operations called the Kinetic Cannon. Following the undetermined success of their mission, it was revamped into the Kinetic Engine, a source of power which would endure for trillions of years thanks to the miniature red dwarf star housed within the central chamber. Now it powers the Axiom.

Interestingly, it was discovered that its original creators allowed the components of the Engine required to fire a thermonuclear blast to remain intact through iterations — a feature Maria Prophetissimia has updated.

Warp Drive

In order to achieve long range FTL travel, a warp drive was installed in the Axiom of Maria. It was purchased through an alien black market and thoroughly inspected by the crew of the Axiom before installation.

The warp drive allows the vessel to achieve superluminal warp velocity in order to arrive to a predetermined destination.

OTHER CAPABILITIES & TECHNOLOGY

*Lenmat is one of the primary synthesized elements composing the hull of the Axiom. There were several other elements which were created during the planning phase of the Axiom of Maria's construction but lenmat was settled on due to its light weight, extreme heat resistance, and ease of production.

Over 100 similar artificial elements were created and implemented into the Axiom's design, but lenmat constitutes over a quarter of the total percentage of unique materials. It and many others were designed for a singular purpose: concussive dispersal. In reaction to shock, lenmat plating spreads the damage over a wide surface area to minimize the potential degree of erosion on a singular area.
